Crabgrass

From a peer and tree enthusiast:

The beautiful boy with hair of crabgrass
Pungent of earth, soft of sheep’s wool
Weathered skin, bronze with orbs of cerulean
Evergreen of wonder
Planted toes stumbling through splintered wood
Enthralled by vibrant toads
Eyes beyond the universe
Captive in nature, hunter, explorer
Soft ears of little listening
Graceful to touch, clumsy mouth
Sinewy tumbler of the woods
Mouth blush pink
Children’s palms
Future untold, unseen, unheard
The beautiful boy with hair of crabgrass, with molded shoulders
With stains of wear
With vainly chiseled appearance
Was endless
